Penrth FC 5 - Emu Plains 1

After our very convincing 6 - 0 nil win against Hazelbrook last week , the boys continued their new found form this Saturday by soundly beating Emu Plains 5 - 1 away at Hunter Field.

Emu had "looked the goods" last week with their valiant 1-0 (penalty) loss to the favorites RSL, but it just goes to show that results can be deceiving.

The boys made sure that Emu Plains were kept out of the game for the majority of the 50 minutes with some great "first to the ball" football. We dominated possession and with play primarily down Emu's end all we needed was an opening goal to set the tempo and the boys were off and running. Only one mistake in failing to address a short corner led to the only goal we conceded which was deflected away from Williams hands into our net, we were simply unlucky.. but absolutely everything else Emu attempted was dealt with in short order.. So full credit to our defence today, they put in another great performance for the second week in a row. That said our midfielders had a cracker and are now tenacious in their chasing of and winning the ball, they opened up opportunities for our strikers who have now found the goal 11 times in two games...great job boys!

Firmly in third place after the first round, we still have an opportunity to improve that position (by maintaining this form) and cause an upset or two along the way. Who knows..anything is possible in football !!. .. but for now its still "one game at a time" for us.

Well done boys

Under 5’s Panther placed another great win against Penrith RSL Sharks 3-2, we seen the return of Eve to the team and had another outstanding game. Both Jacob and Morris had a good game both scoring in the early part of the first half, Riley and Lee put in some great defense to keep the sharks at bay. The second half seen Player of the match Lachlan display some great keeper work in the goals and Jarrod, Jake and Harry continuing to keep the opposition at bay. All in all it was an outstanding performance from a team that seem to be improving week by week.

The 12 Girls played away this weekend against a very strong club in"St Marys Band Club. We only had ten players for the whole game and the girls played their hearts out and came away winners 2-1 with the opposition scoring in the dying seconds.

They all played strong with Paige Baxter scoring two goals.Awards were given to Melanie Rosetto abnd Carla Petroni for their tireless efforts. Special mention must go to Courtney Ray who played strongly through out the game with a very bad cold. Again congratulations to the girls and well done!

The Penrith 16G3 girls showed plenty of guts and determination in their 4-2 loss to the competition leaders Blaxland this weekend. An incredibly quick start by Blaxland resulted in 2 early goals despite some impressive goalkeeping by Hannah in the first half. Tennille's goal at the 28th minute rewarded some good runs & passing by the Penrith girls, while some excellent defence by Eloise, Natasha, Tara and Kaylee kept Blaxland scoreless for the rest of the first half. Tennille's equaliser early in the second half resulted from great work by Jinling, Danielle and Charlotte. Despite some impressive saves under pressure by Tobi as goalie in the second half, two late goals by Blaxland ensured their victory. The Penrith girls never gave up and can hold their heads high for their part in what was a highly entertaining, close game.
